Sweden | Research Update

At the Swedish Hub the focus has been on building resources that support educators´ capacities to engage in subject integrated food education and to enhance research and knowledge about Food Related Learning. Some of the activities conducted are:

  • FoodEd Reseach project
    Within the research project FoodEd subject integrated food education has been co-designed through cooperation between primary school teachers and academic. Experiences and results from the research project have been shared through a poster (view here) and a scientific publication (available soon).

  • Early Career Researcher Network
    PhD student, post doc and ECRs from different countries with interest in Food Related Learning are most welcome to join the International Early Career Researcher (ECR) Network for Food Related Learning. You can read more about it and indicate your interest at this link.

  • PhD-course about Food Related Learning
    An international graduate level course in Food Related Learning will be run online for free. You can read more about it and indicate your interest at this link.

  • Publication
    In August 2024 a new book about peoples encounter with food and meals will be published. It comprises 14 chapters in Swedish written by educators and researchers at the University of Gothenburg. More information about the book and table of content is available at this link.

  • Post doc project
    Within a 2-year post doc project of Gabrielle Edwards a Whole school approaches to sustainable food education is explored.

  • Educational material
    An educational material consisting of 12 lessons and 17 learning task focusing on food and health, consumer knowledge and sustainability has been developed. The material gives examples of how to implement digital tools both in classrooms and in virtual learning environments in home economic.

  • FLIP webinar No 4 What is Food Literacy?
    A Nordic perspective about what food literacy entails is provided through the FLIP webinar that can be viewed here. 

  • New Book about “Peoples encounter with food and meals” (in Swedish)
    In August 2024 a new book about peoples encounter with food and meals will be published. It comprises 14 chapters in Swedish written by educators and researchers at the University of Gothenburg. More information about the book and table of content can be viewed here.
